Dimapur, August 06 2010: In what could be termed as a rare gesture from a militant outfit the Khaplang faction of the NSCN has pledged that it would shun the path of violence while pursuing its goal.

The NSCN-K also said as for the NSCN-IM leader Th.Muivah, 'there is no role for Thuingaleng Muivah in Nagaland'.

NSCN-K has been engaging in a ceasefire agreement with the Government of India since 2001 .

On Thursday the outfit said that it will shun all forms of violence to achieve its political objective which is 'Naga freedom'. Talking to media persons at Vihokhu village, off Dimapur on Wednesday, 'emissary' to the 'collective leadership' of the NSCN-K Kughalu Mulatonu said, "Violence is the weapon of the weakest" .

Kughalu Mulatonu was speaking to the scribes on the sidelines of the "Thanksgiving Service" held at Vihokhu village off Dimapur in Nagaland to celebrate the 'historic' unification and merger of NSCN-K and Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN/NNC) non-accordist (Shillong Accord1975) faction.

The NSCN-K leader claimed that the 'unconditional unification' of the two Naga national groups into one entity was the first step towards real 'Naga Unity'.

The move assumed significance because the merger of the two as one group would enhance both its political, economic and military might.

Kughalu Mulatonu said, "We will soon work out the modalities for renaming the new government and its structures".

The NSCN-K leader further said the 'new government' would pursue the ongoing work of Naga reconciliation process, initiated by the Forum for Naga Reconciliation, church groups and various like-minded civil society organizations.

When asked whether there was any possibility of rapprochement with the NSCN-IM group, Mulatonu made it clear, "there is no role for Thuingaleng Muivah in Nagaland".

Mulatonu was highly critical of New Delhi for talking to a 'terror group', which, he said, had completely failed to deliver.

"We pray that New Delhi don't send him empty handed," Mulatonu said.

The NSCN-K leader asserted that the priority of the newly found Naga political entity would be to further the unity process among the like-minded Naga national groups, national workers as well as all the peace loving Nagas.

Dwelling on the reconciliation process, NNC/FGN leader Zhopra Vero said the 'Covenant of Reconciliation was signed in June 2009 by leaders of three major Naga national groups � NSCN-IM NSCN-K and FGN/NNC .

They had committed to reconciliation and forgiveness based on the 'Historical and Poitical rights of the Nagas' and foster the spirit of 'love, non-violence, peace and respect' among them to resolve the 'outstanding issue'.

Leaders who spoke on the occasion were of the opinion that unless the Nagas work unitedly the the protracted Naga political problem will be difficult to solve.
