Manipur Press Club completed 38 year today.
Scribes of state celebrated the foundation of the auditorium of the club building at Majorkhul with state information and public relation and tourism minister, TN Haokip as chief guest.
The function which was presided over by the president of the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU), S Hemanta was also attended by MLA, Bijoy Koijam, deputy chairman of the state planning department.
On the occasion, IPR minister, TN Haokip unveiled the solar lighting system installed at the club premise by Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) at a cost of Rs 1.5 lakh and handed over to the club.

Speaking as Chief Guest, minister, TN Haokip asked the scribes to be careful while discharging their duty considering the "extreme climatic" situation prevailing in the state.
Scribes has work hard toknow the prevailing situation, he added.
In the state working days are very limited as frequent bandhs, blockades and other forms of agitations in the state have compelled people to stay away from work above the general holidays observed in the state in a year.
There is a need for increasing the number of working days in a year, Haokip said asking media persons to take responsibilities in the effort to increase the working days.
He also expressed disappointment over the delay in the commencement of functions or any other events from the scheduled time in the state as a convention of the people of the state.
Bijoy Koijam speaking as guest of honour on the occasion explored the important role of the journalists in the society.
A society without journalists is like a family without women.
Journalists are highlighting government's developmental work to the people from time to time.
He also urged the media persons not to use the identity I-cards issued to them in the wrong way.
In other states of the country, the authority takes outmost care in issuance of the I-Card to the scribes.
AMWJU also need to re-look into the media house which had stopped publications.
He finally asked the journalists to protect their ethics.
Bijoy Koijam also handed over Rs 50,000 provided to AMJWU by the Chief Minister as assistance for the installation of the solar lamp in the club complex.
At the concluding part of the celebration, AMJWU honoured retired media persons with gifts.
