Imphal, Aug 02:
Putting an end to the protracted internal dissension within MPP over the election of the new party president, the suspension order of 10 members including MLAs O Joy and Dr Nimaichand Luwang from the primary membership of the party has been revoked.
The suspension of 10 members including the two MLAs from the primary membership of the party was revoked by an order issued and signed by MPP president L Borajao on July 31.Other members whose suspensions have been revoked are Kshetrimayum Brajamani, Ch Iboyaima, M Binodkumar, Th Nandakumar, M Toto, M Inaocha, K Babumacha, Md Tajkhan, AK Abhiram and L Birenyaima.
The new political development is likely to give a boost to the effort being made to form a joint forum of all the regional political parties in Manipur.
With the internal conflict of the party being finally resolved, a meeting of the Working Committee of MPP was held at the party office from 11 am to 2 pm today with party president L Borajao in the chair to discuss the political development.
Talking to The Sangai Express after the meeting, a spokesman of the party disclosed that the Working Committee meeting seriously deliberated on the political strategies to be adopted by the joint regional political forum to fight against the national parties in the forthcoming general election.
With resolution of the MPP impasse, formation of the joint regional political forum of MPP, Federal Party and DRPP is cent percent certain, the spokesman said, adding a joint meeting of all the leaders of the regional political parties would be convened soon and the political strategies of the joint forum will be announced to the public.
Despite the claim of resolving the internal problems of the party, information received by the press, however, said that there are still some points on which the two factions do not see eye to eye and negotiations are on.
The points on which the two groups still cannot agree include the written representations sent to the Election Commission of India after taking a decision by the central committee of the group led by Borajao as president as well as by the group led by O Joy contending that the presidential election process was wrong.
The representation of the central committee clearly mentioned that although there was no objection to formation of alliance with other political parties, the basic character of MPP should be retained.
The representations submitted to the Election Commission of India have not been withdrawn though the cases filed in the court have been withdrawn.
