Imphal, April 01:
Ahead of the proposed expansion of the SPF Ministry for the second time, the Rastriya Janata Dal, which is also a partner of the SPF coalition Government, is lobbying hard for atleast one ministerial berth.
To press their demand, RJD State unit president Wahengbam Nipamacha and RJD Legislature Wing leader Md Hellaluddin are set to leave for Delhi tomorrow.
During their stay at Delhi, the two RJD leaders are scheduled to meet National president of the party and Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and other RJD leaders and urge them to pile on the pressure on the AICC to include one RJD MLA in the SPF Council of Ministers.
A final decision on the matter would be adopted after the meeting with the RJD National president Lalu Prasad, informed a source in the RJD State unit.
Asserting that the Central leaders of the RJD would be urged to approach the AICC leaders to allot one berth to the RJD in the next expansion, the State RJD leaders said that if their request is not heeded then they may take recourse to some extreme steps.
One would be to urge the RJD leaders to withdraw support to the UPA at Delhi, they said and added that if the RJD leaders fail to heed their case, then they will be constrained to abolish the party from Manipur for good.
Inducting RJD Legislature Wing leader Md Hellaluddin in the SPF Council of Ministers has been already approved in-principle by the high commands of both RJD and AICC.
But the RJD State unit has been compelled to adopt a new political resolution due to the silence maintained by the Congress party in this regard, added the source.
The RJD has three MLAs in the 60 member Assembly and former Chief Minister W Nipamacha is the State unit president.
Though no pre-poll alliance was struck with the Congress, the RJD was one of the first parties to extend support to the Congress when the results started to come in.
