Imphal, April 30:
The Superintendent of the Excise Department along with two other staff have been reportedly abducted by unidentified persons last evening.
The abducted Superintendent is identified as Thiyam Gyanen, a resident of Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak.
Though the police got wind about the abduction, no complaint has been formally lodged from the side of the abducted officials to the police, according to sources.
Shot dead : Unidentified gunmen shot dead a 35-year old Muslim youth after calling him out from his residence at Chandam Pat Loukon under Porompat Police Station at around 9.30 pm yesterday.
The deceased has been identified as Md Ibothemcha alias Khalim (35) of Kshetri Bengoon Awang Leikai.
He was reportedly called out from home by the unidentified gunmen.
There were bullet marks on his head and hands.
The body has been handed over to the bereaved family members after post-mortem.
Meanwhile, Kshetri Bengoon Youth Club has demanded to know the party responsible and the reason behind the killing and appealed to all concerned to ensure such violent incident does not recur in Kshetri Bengoon area.
Sub Judge dies mysteriously : Sub-Judge-I Sahdev was found dead in his own own bed at his house located at Keishampat Mutum Leirak under Imphal PS early morning today.
Police have a registered a case.
The cause of the death, whether he hanged himself to death or died in the sleep could not be confirmed as the body had already been cremated before the arrival of the police.
Bomb blast : A person reportedly sustained injuries on his buttock when a bomb exploded near Chawangphai, Gate No.4, Moreh, 1.5 kms north of Moreh Police Station at around 10.20 am today.
Though the sound of the blast is reported to have been heard, Moreh Police could not confirm the extent of casualty caused as no report had been lodged in this connection.
Cyclist knocked down : An elderly man was killed when a speeding Kinetic Honda knocked him him down at Singjamei Waikhom Leikai at around 7.30 am today.
The victim identified as Laishram Dhaballo (77) of Waikhom Leikai was coming on a bicycle when he was knocked down.
The body has been handed over to his family members.
