Imphal, March 13: MPP MLA O Joy has described the report of his suspension from the primary membership of the party by L Borajao, who is said to have been recognised as the new president of the party by Election Commission of India as a big joke.

Addressing a hurriedly convened press conference at the party office here this afternoon, Joy maintained those who are claiming that he has been suspended are in fact the ones who have been already suspended from the party.

They should not be making jokers out of themselves with such suspension order, Joy said.

Intrusion into the party office by the suspended members caused inconveniences in the normal functioning of the party, Joy said, while condemning the alleged security lapses on the part of the police in allowing them inside the office complex.

Reading out the resolutions adopted by the working committee meeting held at the party office yesterday, Joy said the meeting endorsed the report submitted by the five-member committee constituted by the working committee to investigate into the complaint that the election of the party president held on December 31 was in violation of the party constitution .

The resolutions of the working committee also categorically stated that no official letter on recognition L Borajao as the party president has been received from the Election Commission of India and the claim made by Borajao that he is the newly elected party president would be discussed only after receiving the relevant letter.

The working committee also endorsed the formation of Joint Forum of all the regional political parties.

Joy further announced that the meeting of the central committee of the party would be held on March 20 which would be subsequently followed by the conference of the party.

Central committee is the supreme authority of the party and it can even challenge the decision of the Election Commission if it is against the interest of the party, he said, adding that the party has requested the Commission to give some more time in this regard.

Joy charged that life attempt have been made on him in connection with the election of the party president.

It is because of the threat from some armed gangsters that the RO resigned and the certificate of the election had been forcibly taken from the ARO, he said.

On yesterday's clash among the MPP workers, Joy said it was the prerogative of the party to decide whether the meeting of the working committee should be held or not.
