Acting swiftly the State police authority has suspended the 4th IRB man, Sh Surjit Sharma who was over powered by the vigilante public of Singjamei area last night, while extorting money from some passers by.
His accomplice, identified as KT who managed to escape was also picked up by the police today.
According to police KT (21) was picked up from his Thangmeiband Thingel Leikai residence in the wee hours of today.
KT�s full name has been established as Keisham Tijendra.
KT along with a personnel of 4th IRB named as Sh Surjit Sharma had attempted to rob a civilian yesterday but the locals foiled the robbery bid.
While Surjit was thrashed black and blue KT managed to flee from the scene.
A police team led by Singjamei police OC raided the Thangmeiband Thingel Leikai house of KT at around 1 am today, said the source while informing that intense interrogation of KT is underway.
The two were produced before the Court today where they were remanded to 15 days police custody.
Police source said that the two have admitted to robbing Rs 8000 from the two civilians last night.
Meanwhile meira paibis of Chingamakha met Chief Minister O Ibobi and urged him to give fitting punishment to the two miscreants.
Timber seized: Personnel 22 MLI seized a truck load of timber at Maribam today.
The timber weighing 10 tons were seized from a truck bearing registration number MN01-5774, said PIB Defence Wing.
