Acting on a complaint petition, Manipur Human Rights Commission has today issued notices on the proprietors of some workshops and Govt officials as well.
The complainant identified as one Yambem Kulachandra Singh of Chingmeirong Maning Leikai complained in his petition that four auto workshops located adjacent to the south and east of his residence have created all sorts of pollution to the surrounding areas.
LT Engineering Workshop, SK Auto Engineering Works, Ch Maiken Tyre Workshop and a Maruti Workshop are the main polluters in the area, he said.
Besides causing noise pollution, the workshops also disrupted electricity flow in the area with their large machines.
The Complainant also alleged that LT Engineering workshop which deals in wielding and spring tempering has been operating without a licence from the concerned authority for many years.
The listed respondents in the case include Chief Eng Electricity Dept, member secy Manipur Pollution Control Board and the Directors of Horticulture, and Commerce and Industries Dept.
While issuing the notices the rights panel asked the respondents to furnish their replies within four weeks.
