Imphal, June 27:
Department of Information Technology (DIT) Government of India has given the green signal to improve the Local Area Network (LAN) system of the State Secretariat Complex with equipment worth Rs one crore, said sources.
Sources informed that the National Informatics, Centre (NIC) Manipur Unit of the Dept Science & Technology will supervise the installation works inside the Secretariat Complex while experts from outside the State will be dealing with the equipment.
Equipment required for installing the new machines have already arrived at Imphal and ate ready for installation, added the source.
Sources also said that upgrading the LAN system inside the Secretariat Complex would enable officers upto the rank of Section Officers (SO) to have free access to computers and internet for their daily official works.
It may be noted here that officers up to the Joint Secretary ranks sitting inside the Secretariat have already been provided with this facility.
