Imphal, May 14: To attend the Congress Parliamentary party meeting at New Delhi, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh along with newly elected Inner Manipur Member of Parliament (MP) Dr T Meinya Singh have flown to the national capital today afternoon.

Hours before the departure, Dr Meinya addressing news-persons at the State Secretariat office said following intimation by the party's general secretary Oscar Fernandes to be present at the Congress parliamentary party meeting to discuss the formation of a new coalition Govt, he (Meinya) and the Chief Minister, who is also the MPCC president would leave for New Delhi.

Dr Meinya said AICC president Sonia Gandhi will preside the meeting slated for tomorrow and added that the meeting will likely focus on the major role of the Congress and chalk out strategies for formation of a new secular alliance at the Centre.

The newly elected MP also said that MPCC vice president and Works Minister Gaikhangam along with the former MPCC (I) president Phungzathang Tonsing who also holds the Power portfolio may leave for Delhi within a day or two.

To a question on when he will resign as a Minister from the SPF Ministry, Meinya said as the parliamentary election process is to continue till May 25, he will give up the Ministerial post of Higher and Technical Education before taking oath as an MP, which is likely before the Govt formation.

Placing agenda of territorial integrity and initiation of political dialogue with underground outfits to solve the insurgency problem among other important priority Dr Meinya mooted indispensability of concreting emotion al integrity among the people to tide over problems afflicting the State.

Explaining that due to presence of insurgency problem Armed Forces Special Powers Act 1958 had to be promulgated in Manipur the MP nevertheless stated Central Govt would be pressed to create a congenial environment for the underground organizations to hold talks with the Govt so as to pave way for eradication of excesses committed by the security force in the State.

On the indefinite hunger strike being launched by Irom Chanu Sharmila demanding scrapping of draconian laws from Manipur, Dr Meinya cited complication to the State Govt in conceding to the hunger striker's demand.

The MP added that as Sharmila is most certain to reject partial removal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act from the State he desisted from visiting her at the hospital.

Conveying his heartfelt gratitude to the State electorates for electing him Dr Meinya pledged fai-th reposed in him by the people will never be betrayed.
