Imphal, July 29 2010:
To give teeth to its argument the RPF cited special economic status granted by Russia to Kalinigrad, which is surrounded by the Baltic Sea.
Similar status to Manipur would be heartily endorsed by the people who wish that every available supply route be explored and developed for minimal impact of disruptions along the two National Highways, the RPF stated while alleging that inspite of hardships being endured here no concrete efforts are being made to promote trade ties with Myanmar.
Absence of such initiatives is a clear indication that the only policy of Government of India is to subjugate people of Manipur through nefarious means, alleged the outfit.
Pointing out that 90 percent of essential commodities are being brought into the State from various parts of india, the RPF strongly suggested that time has come for both the Government of Manipur and the people to focus on the resource rich Myanmar rather than continue to depend on the pity of the Centre.
Leisemba said constant touch being maintained by Chief Ministers of Tripura and Meghalaya State with Bangladesh should be an eye opener for leaders of Manipur as healthy relationships with neighbouring countries need tobe promoted instead of surviving under the mercy of Government of India.
