Discovering the movement of illegal immigrants for human trafficking, troops of 31 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR(South) established mobile vehicle check post at Khudengthabi on February 19, 2010.At about 5:30 pm the troops observed suspicious movement of some women attempting to bypass the mobile vehicle check post, a press release issued by PRO, HQ IG AR (South) informed.
The AR troops arrested a group of 11 women of whom one was an Indian and the rest were found to be Myanmarese nationals.
On detailed questioning, the Indian woman confessed of being a guide/courier for the group moving from Moreh to Imphal.
The arrested were identified as Kakang (Courier/Guide), w/o Letlame, 47 yerars, r/o Ward No.4, Moreh, Anin, w/o Tinaung, 25 years, Myaung, w/o Ookangyin, 31 years, Ayekyi, w/o Tunmyini, 36 years, Linkyi, w/o Hlathay, 33 years, Noonkhan Linkyi, w/o Haipee, 37 years, Ayekhan, w/o Late Aiklite, 45 years, Seinay, w/o Aiseng, 56 years, Jen, w/o Aikyaw, 46 years, Ayejam, w/o Saisos, 56 years.
All of these individuals were residents of Mandalay, Myanmar.
The arrested were handed over to immigration office, Moreh at 9 pm on 19 Feb 10.
