Ukhrul, December 15 2010: The second-day of the mega cultural event, Ngashan Phanit was participated by hordes of people with much fanfare today at TNL ground here.

The programme which opened at 8 in the chilly morning and continued till late night.

Assistant Commissioner of Ukhrul, Armstrong Pame graced today's programme as chief guest.

The main attraction of the day was the demonstration of killing of buffalo which was practised in olden days by Tangkhul forefathers.

Armstrong Pame in his speech opined that the current generation had adopted modern way of living to cope with present economic needs thereby forgetting and giving up the past traditions.

As these past traditions are the identities of a community, one must not forget it as well, he added.

Armstrong further said that the current generation must have an in-depth analysis, evaluation and monitoring of one's cultural and uplift the spirit of protecting one's identity through such kind of celebration in future as well.

Amongst others Thingreira Khangakhun (tug of war), Saotak Kashai (Beans game) and Ngala Khanganui (beauty contest) was also held.

The celebration will be continue till December 17 with various types of indigenous game and other unique cultural presentation.
