Imphal, April 11 2009: The proscribed rebel outfit Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) has categorically asked the Joint Action Committee against the brutal killing of Dr Th Kishan, A Rajen and Y Token to withdraw immediately the bandh called on April 13.Unless the JAC complies with the KYKL's warning, the outfit will start attacking the leaders of the JAC.

Lanngamba Mangang, Secretary, Publicity and Research, KYKL today stated in a press release that this stand was taken by the party in the interest of the people.

Even if it is a leaderless land, no one can do anything as he wishes.

Even though the enemies don't maintain public interest, at least we must maintain it ourselves.

Not wanting to show the other communities of the world and the enemies the divisive nature that prevails amongst us, the party has been tolerating for a long time.

But the nature of the JAC has crossed the limit of patience, the Secretary stated.

He asked the JAC not to stop other protest movement.

"But don't give the people suffocating trouble and don't play with people's lives," he appealed.

He further stated that the KYKL had sent messengers to the JAC requesting it repeatedly not to call bandh.

Even if bandh had to be called, let education be relaxed, the party had requested.

However, the JAC contended that if schools/colleges were not closed, the bandh would not be effective.

Questioning the JAC how far the bandh was effective, Lanngamba Mangang maintained that a bandh should be symbolic.

Relaxation in certain areas does not blunt the bandh.

It is not possible for a bandh to take a movement to its objective.

The JAC must study the nature of social movements, he stated.

Another thing that hurts the KYKL is that while calling a bandh against the party's appeals, the JAC in its statement mentions, as if intentionaly, that schools/colleges and other educational institutions would not be exempted from the bandh.

Is there any reason why it should not be said that it is a deliberate challenge to the KYKL? It is a deliberate act of the JAC to exclude education from its exemption of health and electricity from the bandh.

It is a challenge to KYKL and the party ought not to turn away from this challenge, Lanngamba Mangang asserted.

The press release further stated that there would be no one who would willingly accept the unfortunate incident of the kidnap of Dr Thingnam Kishan, Aribam Rajen and Yumnam Token by some armed persons from the office of Ukhrul DC on February 13 and there subsequent brutal killing at Lukhrabi bridge near Taphou Kuki village in Senapati district on February 17 last.

But there would be no one who would agree with the kind of protest agitation launched by the JAC formed against the brutal killing.

Besides, it is considered that the JAC has openly challenged the KYKL, the Secretary of Publicity and Research of the party, Lanngamba Mangang stated.

The NSCN-IM had disclosed that the brutal murders were committed under the plot of their Naga Army officer named Lt Col Hopson Ningsen on his own, and that there was no decision or order taken by the organisation.

It was announced that Hopson Ningsen would not be handed over to the Government of Manipur, he and all other persons involved in the crime would be tried as per their own laws and would be punished accordingly.

It was also announced that Lt Col Hopson was in the custody of NSCN-IM, Lanngamba Mangang stated.

Narrating further, Lanngamba Mangang said that many organisations had condemned the killing.

Several state-wide and district-wise bandhs had been called in protest against the killings.

The activities of the JAC are not merely organising protest agitations.

Their demands include punishment of the murderers.

In order to achieve this demand, the JAC had organised many programmes.

Sit-in-complaint protests had been staged in front of the homes of MLAs.

The government employees had taken mas casual leave.

Many protest rallies had also been organised.
