Yashwant Sinha calls Ibobi led SPF-govt redundant

Imphal, November 09 2011: Claiming that the O Ibobi Singh led SPF government has become redundant and has failed in the administration of the state, former Union Finance Minister and present Lok Sabha MP Yashwant Sinha gave a clarion call to all the Opposition parties to join hands ahead of the upcoming election to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly.

He also asserted that despite common knowledge over the nexus between Chief Minister Ibobi and the UGs, the centre has not done anything, Yashwant further alleged.

Addressing a press meet at the Nityapat Chuthek office of BJP Manipur Pradesh today, Yashwant Sinha said that it is high time all the Opposition parties in the state come together and think over how to defeat the ruling Congress-led SPF government in the upcoming Assembly election.

Stating that BJP has already taken a decision in this regard, Yashwant Sinha disclosed that the party has started talk with some Opposition parties in the state for pre-poll alliance to pave way for a coalition government after the election, and the response is positive.

To solve the problem of unemployment among the youths in Manipur, BJP would accord due importance on this issue in its election manifesto and BJP would also try its level best to ensure free and fair conduct of the election in Manipur.

Observing that Manipur is home to various communities, the BJP leader said that the party has interacted with these communities to understand their problems and aspirations.

BJP believes that the pace of development in Manipur can speed up when all the communities are treated at the same level.

Suggesting that the Prime Minister should send an all party delegation to Manipur ahead of the winter session of the Parliament scheduled to begin from November 22 to assess the ground situation and show solidarity to the suffering of the people, Yashwant assured that in case of failure, BJP would take up the issue in both Houses of the Parliament.

He noted that in addition to shortage of other essential goods, there is no Oxygen for conducting operations in the hospital following the over 100 days long economic blockade along the National Highways in Manipur.

This is a serious matter and the governments, both at the centre and the state, should not remain silent.

Had Manipur been a state ruled by some non-Congress parties, the UPA government might have imposed President's Rule in the state long ago, he contended, and accused Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh of being indifferent to the problem of the people in North East despite being elected from the region.

National Spokesperson of BJP Prakash Javadekar and President of BJP Manipur Pradesh Sh Shantikumar Sharma were also present during the press meet.
