Imphal, February 26, 2010:
The 31st anniversary of the Revolutionary People's Front (RPF), observed as Independence Demand Day, was held successfully at some places in the world, GM Changjou, Chief, Dept of publicity, RPF informed today.
In a press release, Changjou informed that a solemn function was held in connection with the Day at CHQ where leaders of the party and soldiers took part.
Party's president, Irengbam Chaorel hoisted the flag of the party.
A two-minute silence was observed in honour of those "revolutionaries" of the RPF and other rebel organisations who had sacrificed their lives in the struggle for liberation, the press release stated.
It further stated that the message of the president of the party encouraged all the cadres of the party to march forward to achieve the political objective.
In connection with the observance of the Day, a patriotic recitation and song programme was held.
A sports tournament organised in connection with the Day was also concluded.
Several other programmes were also organised, the press release added.
