Imphal, June 20 2009: At least four persons suspected to be undergrounds have been killed by the security forces today at separate militancy related incidents in the state.

In one of the killing incident at Top Makha Leikai in Imphal east locals detained reporters rushing the spot for coverage alleging that they colluded with the security forces in killing people after abduction and reporting incidents of killing people after abduction as killing in encounter.

Two of the suspects were gunned down by a combined force of Imphal west police commandos and troops of 12 Maratha Light Infantry this afternoon at around 3.45 pm at Uchiwa under Mayang Imphal police station while the remaining two were killed by a combined force of Imphal east police commandos and troops of 28 Assam Rifles at Top Makha Leikai along the Baruni road under Porompat police station tonight at around 7.35 pm.

The first incident killing of the two suspects by the combined occurred at an open place along the Mayai Lambi road at Uchiwa.

According to the police report, the two coming on a Bolero brand vehicle were killed when the security personnel tried to escape by firing towards the security personnel who signaled to stop for checking.

Three persons who were also in the vehicles managed well escaped, they said adding that an AK-56 rifles loaded with 42 live rounds and one 9 mm pistol loaded with three live rounds recovered from the vehicle bearing registration no.MN03-0392 .

The identities of the two slain men which Mayang Imphal police retrieved from the spot and kept at RIMS morgue, Imphal have been established by their respective families late this afternoon.

Families identified the slain men as Waikhom Kennedy (24) son of Diren of Thoubal Wangma Taba and Sanjenbam Samarjit (28) son of Yaima of Thoubal Bazar.

Families said that Kennedy was a married man having a son and a contractor.

His father is a police man.

He went out from home this morning at around 9 am saying that he is going to Imphal to obtain application from HRD Academy for seeking his younger sister's admission along with Samarjit.

The second incident of killing another two suspects occurred at a place along the Baruni road at Top Makha Leikai today at around 7.35 pm.

They were killed by a combined force of Imphal east police commandos and troops of 28 Assam Rifles.

Two 9 mm pistols, a China make hand grenade and four live rounds recovered from the slain men, police said.

From one of the slain men, police also found one driving license, a voter identity card, a passport size photograph along with Rs 30 in cash in a wallet.

In both the driving license and elector's identity card, the slain man could be one Md Sahir Khan son of Janaluddin of Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi.

At the right hand of the other slain man, a tattoo mark with "Awaj Khan Love Suman" was found written in English latter.

Lamenting that the frequent killing of people after carrying at Top area by the security forces disturb the peace and tranquility of area, residents of the area took on the road and blocked the movement of the security forces by piling of woods and burning debris.

They also charged the media persons going to cover the incident of involving in the killing and detained them.

They strongly criticized the media persons having understanding with the security forces in killing people.

They alleged that media persons report killing of men by security force after abduction as killed in encounter.

Media persons were release after protesting people were convinced on the tusk performs by the reporters and they convinced reporters not to report as killing in encounter.

They also appealed the security forces not to kill people after abduction.
