Imphal, January 09: A 2 years and 11 months old child was saved from drowning in a local pond at Kumbi by other two children.

The incident occurred at around 11.30 am yesterday.

According to information given by Society for Disabled Persons (SDP), Kumbi, the child identified as Nongmaithem Khogendra (2 years and 11 months) s/o Nongmeithem Mahendra Singh of Kumbi Awang Khunou , Kumbi Nagar Panchayat ward no 6 was saved from drowning by his 5-year old elder sister Nongmaithem Mahima Devi and another relative identified as Wahengbam Melody Devi (4).On the other hand, on the same day, a 3-year old boy identified as Nongmeithem Romesh Singh drowned in another local pond at around 1.30 pm.
