Demanding resig-nation of O Ibobi from the chief ministership on moral ground with to the July 23 firing incident in crowded market area, the Apunba Lup has imposed 48-hour state-wide general strike commencing from mid-night tonight.
There will be no relaxation for schools and education institutions during the strike even though essential services like the illness, fire, water services and religious matter are kept outside the purview of the strike, informed coordinators of the Apunba Lup taking part in a press conference held at Manipur Press Club announcing the imposition of the general strike.
The strike which will be concluded at midnight of August 4 was called demanding resignation of chief minister, O Ibobi who is also looking after the home portfolio on moral ground, befitting punishment to the police commandos involved in the firing incident and police officer who guided the chief minister in the wrong by alleging the killed youth a coming to extort money from public.
Coordinators demanded appropriate action against the police officer who allegedly manipulated the report of the firing incident to protect the erring police commando personnel involved in the firing incident without investigation into the incident alleging Ch Sanjit as extortionist which resulted the chief minister to make a wrong statement in the floor of the House of the state Assembly.
The alleged manipulated report has led the chef minister to make a statement "Hatpa natana upai leite (no other way other than killing)".
The chief minister should also resign from his post for talking lair in the floor of the highest decision making body of the state, they demanded.Coordinator, Phulendro Konsam speaking to the media persons said that if the demands are not fulfilled by the government during the two days general strike, the Apunba Lup will compel to launch further intensified forms of agitations.
He observed that people of the state are remaining silent even though many people have killed in fake encounters by the state police commandos and security personnel under the Armed Forces (special) Power Act due to lack of hard evidence for such a long time.
But, now, Tehelka newsmagazine has exposed the killing of people by the police commandos after picking up with photographs as hard evidence and the Lup will not remained, he said with an appeal to the people to support in the agitations launched by the body and share the suffering together to bring an end to such type of killing forever.
Another coordinator, Sunil Karam of the body while speaking at the conference observed that police commandos and security forces who used to kill many people at isolated areas in fake encounters have started killing people in the crowded market area in the same manner.
No judicial or magisterial enquiry with regard to the July 23 firing incident in the crowded market area is needed now.

He also went on to ask the government whether, authority is going to say the photographs of the Tehelka as fake.
Everybody must condemn the baseless statement of the chief minister in the house.
People may have thanks the members of the House, if they happened to discussed on the incident after spot verification.
Sunil further alleged the government of trying to make up a society where only widows and widowers live in the state.
The Apunba Lup has been remaining silent in the pass as they could not get hard evidences.
"Now we have the hard evidence, we will not remain silent.
Let throw away the habit of paying ex-gratia after killing people from the soil of the state, he appealed.
Ayekpam Langdon, another coordinator of the body insisted the chief to keep by his word in the house and resign from the post on moral ground.
She also appealed the people to support the agitation launching by the body.
