More than 90 patients turned up since yesterday at the medical cum treatment camp being organised by Orchid Project at the Dist.
HQ here.
Dr Siobhan Bourke, who flew all way from Australia, a Specialist in (STI) Sexual Health arrived in Ukhrul to conduct Hand on Training for the Nurses and clinical staff members of RLGU/CARE and PASDO working along with Project ORCHID from 24th to 28th April 2006.Dr.Siobhan Bourke was accompanied by Dr..JTouthang Clinical Co-ordinator of Project ORCHID Manipur State and Dr..GMerajao Kabui, Medical Officer District Hospital, Ukhrul.
Scores of patients were examined during the medical camp.
Medicines were also distributed free of cost to all the patients.
The turn up was very encouraging witnessing patients coming for treatment from far flung villages travelling for more than 80 Kms.
Unfortunately many of them could not be admitted due to limitation of time and resources.
The trainees expressed gratification to avail such opportunity where they can put into practice immediately, of what they are taught just before they start patient treatment.
Ukhrul is one of the districts in Manipur with highest prevalence of HIV/AIDS sero-positive rate in the State.
