Assailant of non Manipuris held

In a breakthrough in the killing of two non Manipuris who were shot dead by unknown assailants on September 18, the Imphal West District Police has nabbed the assailant and other co-accused of the incident.
Speaking in a press meet, Senior SP, Imphal West L Kailun told reporters that the district police arrested one Wahengbam Haridev alias Don (28) son of late W Tomba of Wahengbam Leikai on September 23 along with PLA flags, festoons and posters for the forthcoming Raising Day of PLA/RPF.
During interrogation, he disclosed that the killing of two Non-Manipuris were carried out by one Gurumayum Nimaichand (36) son of late Lalbapu of Uripok Nagamapal Singjubung Leirak and the arm used in the incident had been transferred to one Nityaichandra Pal (22) son of late Anilchandra Pal.
Nityaichandra Pal was picked up by the district police along with the 9 mm Mauser-Werke with magazine and nine live rounds from his rent room owned by one Tourangbam Jishu alias James alias Meira son of T Madhumangol of Uripok Panchayat Maning.
The main accused Nimaichand was also arrested this morning from the residence of Dr Arambam Ratankumar of Singjubung Leirak.
He has admitted that he had committed both the crimes as per direction of SS Sergeant Major Jishu of PLA.
The weapon was handed over to him by Jishu through an unknown person with which he carried out the mission.
Nimaichand is the youngest brother of AA Assistant Army Chief of PLA G Inaocha alias Jame, the Sr SP said.
In another incident, the Imphal West Police Commandos arrested another active cadre of PLA and a sympathizer of the party along with one 9 mm pistol and flags of PLA from Khoyathong on September 23 at around 4.10 pm.
The active cadre of PLA was identified as SS 2nd Lieutenant and Secretary Division II (Imphal East) Thongam Thoiba alias Holand (36) son of Modhu of Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai while the sympathizer was identified as Brajabashimayum Robin (42) son of B Shyamkishor of Bamon Leikai Mange Makhong.
In yet another incident, the Imphal West Commandos along with 18th Sikh Regiment, posted at Tulihal arrested five active cadres of the proscribed UG group KCP (MDF) from Hiyangthang on September 23 at around 5.10 pm.
They were identified as Yumnam Sobha son of Y Menjor of Irom Meijrao Mamang Leikai who is an IRB Jawan, Laishram Amarjit alias Inaoton (24) son of L Ibocha of Utlou Chanura Mamang Leikai, Md Ibomcha Phundreimayum (25) son of Md Rahim of Hatta Mana Ingkhol, Md Abdul Rashid (62) son of late Md Jan Mohammad of Sangaiyumpham Mairenkhul and Md Ithem alias Abdul (36) son of Md Abdul Rashid of Sangaiyumpham Mairenkhul.
Out of them Yumnam Sobha was involved in the shooting of a lady Panchayat Member at Mayang Imphal area on September 16.Two AK 56 Assault Rifles with 110 live rounds, nine Chinese Hand Grenades, one Tata Sumo and one Bajaj Scooter were recovered from their possession.
Meanwhile, Imphal West CDOs this morning arrested an active member of the proscribed UG group KCP (Noyon) from Churachandpur parking, Keishampat.
He was identified as Haorongbam Bijoypal alias Inaobi (40) son of H Borachaoba of Wangkhei Thangapat Mapal.
He disclosed that he has been working under SS 2nd Lieutenant Noren alias Khuman who is at Namphalong in Myanmar at present.
He has been extorting money from Nagamapal Grocery Shops, Businessmen and general public for the last one year.
He used to send money to Khuman through passenger buses.
26 printed Demand letters of KCP (Noyon) signed by Khuman was also recovered from his possession, L Kailun said.
