The IndoMyanmar car rally has been flagged off from Leimakhong yesterday GOC 57 Mountain Div Maj Gen EJ Kochekkanon its return leg from Imphal to Dimapur.
In a brief function before the flag off, the General Officer addressed the rally teams and presented mementos.
In his speech, Gen Kochekkan said the participants were very fortunate to have experienced first hand the rich cultural mosaic of both of Myanmar and India.
This rally would go a long way in strengthening the excellent ties between out great nations, he added.
It has also been a unique honour for the Red Shield Div to host the Myanmarese and Indian Army contingents at Leimakhong on two separate occasions, General Kochekkan said.
In Myanmar, the rally covered a distance of 2768 kms during a span of 10 days and visited Tamu, Kalemyo, Mandalay, Tongu and Yangoon.
On Dec 16 during a mega event, the team members laid wreath at the World War-II War Cemetery at Taukkayn near Yangoon.
The impressive function was attended by high ranking officers and Government officials including Army Commanders and Town Commanders of Myanmar.
