Imphal, May 19: Despite having passed the Manipur Reservation of Vacancies in Post and Services (For SC/ST) Second Amendment Bill, 2007 by the Assembly today, All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) has announced its decision of going ahead with imposition of economic blockade along the National Highways with effect from midnight tomorrow and called a 24-hour general strike in Manipur on May 24.Passing of the Manipur Reservation of Vacancies in Post and Services ( For SC/ST) Second Amendment Bill, 2007 is one of the main demands of the student body.

Announcing the decision of ATSUM to go ahead with its proposed agitations, John Pulamte, president of the student body contended that besides one or two, the Bill is bereft of the provisions which are to the interest of ATSUM.
