3-day training programme on Jewellery and Antique making begins in Chandel

Chandel, September 16 2025:
A three-day training programme on Jewellery and Antique Making, organised by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Chandel under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme, commenced on Monday at the Hall of Maha Area Chief Association, Panchai, Chandel district.
The inaugural session was attended by Dr N Munal Meitei, DFO/Chandel; Dr Bd Thumdal Anal, Retd Principal of United College Lambung; and WS Jesjila Anal, chief trainer as presidium members.
Addressing the gathering, Dr N Munal Meitei highlighted that jewellery items and ornaments, traditionally worn from head to toe.
not only serve as aesthetic purpose but also portray the hidden culture and traditions of a community.
He emphasized that these ornaments are a legacy of the community's rich traditions and history, and must be preserved and promoted for future generations.
He further urged participants to value and safeguard traditional jewellery and antique items as cultural treasures, ensuring their continuation as symbols of heritage and identity.
