Non-Gazetted Employees� Welfare Association of Jawaharlal Nehru (JN) Hospital, Imphal on Tuesday joined the ongoing cease work strike launched by the state government employees thereby affecting the patients visiting the hospital.
Even the patients who were seriously ill were being recommended for an alternate hospitals for treatment.
However, the patients were being given the first aid at JN Hospital.
It is worth mentioning that the medical department of the hospital along with some of the state and district level health centres had joined the cease work strike since February 24. Services at almost all the Out Patient Departments (OPDs) of the state and district level health centres have been severely affected since then.
The indefinite cease work strike launched by the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Union Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees Organization (AMGEO) demanding the implementation of revised 6th pay commission has paralyzed the functioning of Manipur Government Departments since January 16. Several departments including the health department, Director of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) and other departments have joined the stir.
Meanwhile, the OPD was closed down due to the strike in JN hospital.
Only the in-patients were being given treatments by the medical employees.
Interacting with media persons today, L.Chandrakumar, president of Non-Gazetted Employees� Welfare Association of Jawaharlal Nehru (JN) Hospital informed that they had been demanding the implementation of the revised Sixth Pay Commission since January 16. It is worth mentioning that the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Union Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees Organization (AMGEO) launched the indefinite cease work strike from January 16, 2010 demanding payment of revised pay recommended by the Sixth Pay Commission with effect from January 2006 with travel allowance and dearness allowance.
