Tamenglong, December 08 2010: The 11 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 59 Mountain Brigade organised a rare seminar on 'Zeliangrong: the way ahead' at Indoor Stadium Tamenglong with Santanu Dayal, Deputy Commander, 59 Mt Brigade and Col PS Chhonkar, SM, Commandant 11 AR as special guests.

DP Panmei, Ex- Minister, Thomas Kamei, Chairman Zeliangrong Baudi, Manipur and Dinganglung SDO Tousem were the core speakers.

Though the seminar had few participants it went off peacefully.

Meanwhile, the two day 11th Annual meet of Nungba Area Women Welfare Organisation went off peacefully at Khongsang village today.

The annual meet was attended by leaders of Zeliangrong, chairmen and secretaries of different bodies and women folk from different villages of Nungba Sub- Division of Tamenglong district.

Th Thomas, advocate, spoke on Domestic Violence Act 2005 and rights of women, Lunghtaorei Kamei Coordinator PEARL Partner's PESH spoke on inclusion of women in village governance, D Kaichei Mathew Coordinator, Community Care Centre Tamenglong spoke on HIV/AIDS and the scenario in Tamenglong, and Katadim Panmei, AWARE Tamenglong spoke on women and adolescence care.

Traditional dances and Haipou Jaduannang's parade entertained the gathering.

K Panmei, Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong and, Maj Sandeep Joshi, Commander 11 AR Khongsang and Kajaigai SDO Nungba were present at the function as chief guest, guest of honours and president respectively.
