Imphal, November 06 2009:
The Congress led Secular Progressive Front (SPF) government today strongly refuted the corruption and other charges leveled to the chief minister, O Ibobi by the party north east in-charge of BJP, Chandrasekhar Rao.
The charges leveled against the chief minister and others were all baseless and unfounded ones, said a statement of the spokesperson of the SPF government, N Biren today.
It is not new for the party like BJP to talk whatever they like without any basis.
BJP is among the political party who always try to suppress the people of the north eastern region.
People of the region are the witnesses, it stated.
When BJP ruled at the Centre, instead of efforting to develop Manipur state, they blocked funds for payment of salaries of the Manipur state government.
The state suffered a lot at that time.
During their resign, the communal harmony among the people of north eastern region was breached.
The June 18 Uprising that resulted in the lost of life and properties of the people was the hard evidence, the spokesperson stated.
Minister N Biren, in the statement, further observed that during the reign of BJP, any demands of the people were fulfilled.
They might have feel shame when there have marked changes in the field of development under O Ibobi led SPF government.
BJP should have lauded the developments that witnessed in both valley and hill areas in the last around 6 year rule of SPF government in the state.
The party may wondered when Manipur University has been converted into Central University and setting up of separate tribal university for the tribal people of the state.
Such works were never done by any political parties and hard to believe in the future too.
The state witness so much development as SPF government utilized funds for development released by the UPA government at the Centre, the statement claimed expressing surprise when a political party like BJP talk on baseless things.
