Two assailants on non-Manipuris arrested

Two overground members of RPF/PLA, directly involved in attacking two Non-Manipuris last month in Imphal, were arrested today by a team of Imphal west police, police said.
Kharibam Amarjit @ Nanao (24) son of late Thoiba of Sagolband Nepram Major Leirak and Meisnam Jugindro @ Tomcha (47) of late Abhiram of Sagolband Thingom Leikai were nabbed by the team led by Imphal west SDPO S Modhunimai.
Amarjit was arrested from a fish farm at Heingang Chingkhong village in Imphal east following specific information of him taking shelter at the farm of one Ngangom Premjit, at about 5.30 am while Jugindro was picked up from his home in a follow up action based on disclosures made by Amarjit, the SDPO told reporters this afternoon.
SDPO, Modhunimai said that the two were involved in attacks on non-Manipuris on two occasions during September.
He recalled the incident of the shooting of Rajendro Rajak at Sega Road on September 16 and Sandeep Shahu, a hotel boy, on September 9 at Keishamthong Hodam Leirak.
The SDPO said the two were directly involved in both the two cases, and alleged the M-20 pistol, they used in shooting the non-Manipuris was kept at the house of Jugindro.
The duo attacked the two non-Manipuris under the instruction of one Sanker of Naorem Leikai who was arrested by Imphal east police last month.
They used an Activa Honda belonging to Amarjit to perform their dastardly acts.
The gun, they used in committing the crimes had been stashed in the house of Jugindro and it was taken away the next day after the attack on Rajendro Rajak, Modhunimai said stating that the police came to know this during interrogation of the duo.
Amarjit has been working for the RPF/PLA as an overground member for the last one year, he said.
Police alleged that the two were among three overground workers of the RPF/PLA who were directly involved in two attacks on non-Manipuris which occurred in Imphal last month.
Assam Rifles also nabbed two NSCN(IM) cadres allegedly involved in extortion from civil trucks plying on NH-39 and 53, a statement of the PIB (Defense Wing) said today.
One of the extortionists nabbed by troops of 11 Assam Rifles at Khongsang post in Tamenglong has been identified as James Thomas (30) son of Sabung of Rengpang village under Nungba police station of Tamenglong district last.
AR alleged that the cadre was actively involved in carrying out extortions from civil trucks moving on NH-53 in the past month.
Our Tamenglong correspondent added that a NSCN (IM) cadre was nabbed at 3.50 pm yesterday from a hotel at Rengpang village along NH-53.He had indulged in extortion activities between Rengpang and Nungba and has now been handed over to Imphal police.
The other OG nabbed by troops of 5 Assam Rifles has been identified as Luirang of Sagonbam village in Senapati district when its troops were conducting a search operation in the general area of Lairaoching, the PIB statement added.
He is a member of the finance wing of the NSCN (IM) and is involved in extortion of money from commercial trucks plying on NH-39 .
Another underground activist belonging to PREPAK was nabbed by troops of 23 Assam Rifles at Sagolmang post in Imphal east yesterday at 4.15 pm.
He has been identified as Wangkheirakpam Nandi Meetei (26) son of late W Chandramani of Keibi Loushangkhong Makha Leikai, IGAR (S) said.
