Imphal, April 25 2009: Condemning the rape and murder of a 6-year old Naga girl at Mahipalpur in Delhi, Tangkhul youth council, Tangkhul Mayar Ngakla Long (TMNL) has called upon the authorities concerned for awarding befitting punishment to the culprit Manoj Kumar Thapa and enact necessary laws to prevent occurrence of such barbaric acts in the future.

In a joint statement, president of TMNL Zangyo Varam and its information and publicity secretary Sothing Zimik pointed out that rape and murder of baby Gaipuiliu Gangmei is not an exceptional case and North easterners have always be subjected to rape, harassment, murder and exploitation at Delhi.

The joint statement said TMNL also shared the pain, sorrow and grief of the family on the loss of their precious daughter.

The joint statement further informed that in continuing drive against alcoholism in Ukhrul district, TMNL volunteers laid seize a canter (MN-01/5742) belonging to one Shamu and Rishi Singh of Andro, Imphal East from Tallui Junction, Ukhrul while transporting 2300 litres of country made brew allegedly belonging to one Athing of Mawai and friends of Ukhrul yesterday.

The individuals concerned were penalised in accordance to the law of TMNL and the seized item destroyed in the presence of media persons and public at TNL ground.
