Lamka, August 24: Unidentified armed men, said to be around five in numbers last night shot a 35 year old man, identified as Chungkhojam inside his residence in Kamdou Veng here killing him at the spot.

The son of Khuangkhaijang village Chief, Janghau, the deceased is said to have associated with the armed group � Zou Defense Volunteers for quite sometime.

Though the reason behind the killing and the party involved could not be immediately established, it is believed that his connection with the armed group may have been responsible.

By the time armed men ransacked the house and pumped multiple bullets on the deceased last night, his wife and their young children were the only occupants of the house, a reliable source said.

The incident was reported to the police only at around 10 am today, and by the time the police team reached the spot for investigation, a team of BSF personnel had already removed all empty cases and the blood stains on the house already washed off.

The dead body with more than half a dozen bullet marks was later handed over to the family after postmortem.
