Imphal, May 17: A protest rally demanding unconditional release of UPF Ithai Zonal Council general secretary Laishram Premjit was taken out at Bishnupur Bazar today.

A public meeting held after the protest rally resolved that 'mass court arrest' movement would be launched soon in case Premjit is not released immediately without any condition.

Rally staged by members of the UPF to protest the arrest of its member being stopped by the police at Bishnupur

The protest rally was participated by a large number of Meira Paibis, students and representatives of various civil organisations.

The rallyists held banners which read as "Premjit is an innocent civilian", "Release Premjit immediately" etc.

Even as the protestors attempted to storm the office of DC Bishnupur district, they were blocked by police and their attempt foiled.

Coming back, the protestors shouted slogans like, "Go back Indian army", "Security force should violate law", "We want peace" etc in front of the office of SP Bishnupur district.

Another resolution resolved in the public meeting held after the rally was to launch various modes of agitation for repeal of AFSPA 1958 in toto from the State.

Premjit was arrested by a combined team of 100 Bn BSF and 7 AR on May 7 from his home.
