Tamenglong, February 17, 2010: The Secular Progressive Front, SPF led government has been started taken up numbers of steps to revive the Members of District Council, MDC election that has been defunct for almost 21 years ago.

Amidst the huge and cry for holding Autonomous District Council election one can ask is that, Is the SPF led government sincere enough to hold MDC election in Hill District of Manipur.

After tentative schedule for holding the ADC election was made the intending candidates believe the heart and soul to the state government and have started spending huge amount of money by convening public meetings and campaigning from door to doors and village to villages and sympathizing the voters to cast their votes.

Election campaign kicks off cum worship programme was held here at Tamenglong district after one another continued till today.

If the state government failed to hold the MDC election again, what a great lost for the intending candidates after spending such amount of money.

Gaikulung alias Guangthungbou Pamei 74 year old son of P.Koule intending candidates for MDC election in 1989 is among that had ever faced great lost and led a miserable life after resigned from AI post under ZEO Tamenglong to contest the MDC election in 1989. If election was held in that year and if he lost in the election, that was another case for him to live such miserable life.

However, just before the nomination date the state government announced MDC election as dissolved for the time being.

In the meantime, while talking to this reporter Gaikulung alias Gwangthungbou Pamei said that he was resigned from AI post to contest the MDC election in 1989. He expressed deep disappointment to the state government for not holding the MDC election as he had lost his job.

�I had full support of three villages in Tharon constituency and if the MDC election was held in that I have the chance of getting Chairman of the ADC, however defunct or dissolved of MDC by state government really made me poor�, he said.

Even though he was 74 year old he still has the desired to serve the people by becoming nominee of the Autonomous District Council members without contesting any one.

He revealed that he was a senior congress worker.

He urged the intending candidate not to contest the MDC election this year too that if he was a government employee, saying that we cannot put all trust to the state government.

He also appeal all voters to chose the right person who would be really working for the welfare of the people and if public did not choose the right candidates it will be a great lost for the society and nation too.

On visiting the old man who has the desired to serve and work for the people, his house was made of thatch roof almost torn out.

He has four sons and four daughters where they able to acquired two BA and two BSC including BSC in nursing, one children reading in class 12 while another one child will be appearing class 12 this year.

He also wants the state government to give jobs to his children as he lost his service due to government apathy that made him debtor.

There are many others who was mounted to debtors by suspending the MDC election for time being just before the nomination date in that fated year.

If the SPF led government fail again to hold the ADC election this year then numbers of debtors would be increase in the district as the intending candidates has spend huge amount of money in campaigning process.
