The SOS Children Village of India, an organisation working for the welfare of the destitute and orphaned children under the sponsorship of UNICEF has given approval for setting up three SOS children villages here at Imphal.
The organisation has intimated the matter to the Social Welfare Department, Government of Manipur.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, an official source informed that Sumanta Kumar Kar, the Deputy National Director (South East) of SOS Children Village of India based at Bhubaneswar has send the letter of approval for setting up three SOS Children villages at Imphal through the Commissioner of Social Welfare IS Laishram.
Accordingly, scouting of the suitable sites for setting up the proposed three SOS Children Villages would start very soon, the source informed, while disclosing that all the required expenditure would be met by the SOS Children Village of India.
