Imphal, November 14 2008: Reacting to the allegation of the Manipur Hill Areas Autonomous District about misappropriation of fund for the scheme "Improvement of Traditional Method of Jhum Cultivation", Director of Agriculture RK Nayansana has clarified that the scheme is yet to be implemented in all the five hill districts.

A press release issued by the Director said that non arrival of associated inputs has been delaying implementation of the scheme.

The inputs now stranded somewhere in Nagaland due to the economic blockade are expected to reach Imphal any time now, Nayansana conveyed.

Besides, almost all the extension staff in the concerned districts of the Department are at present fully engaged in Crop Competition on HYV paddy exercise.

By the time, the said exercise is over which is expected within a week or two, the Department is expected to proceed with the implementation of the scheme, she informed while denying any question of fund misappropriation on the Department.
