Imphal, August 14 2010:
The Military Defence Force (MDF) has refuted the claim of Delhi Police that some of its cadres were involved in two different cases of bomb attacks and the murder
of woman.
A press release issued by the outfit's public relation officer Anand rejected the police claim that some of its cadres, who were arrested by a combined team of Delhi Police, Thoubal commandos and 16th Maratha Light Infantry from West Delhi in the intervening night of August 9-10, had confessed to the crimes, as baseless.
MDF was not connected with the murder of Nongthombam Indira of Sabungkhok Mayai Leikai on July 26 nor with the placing bombs at the residences of Minister Alaudin Khan on August 3 and Dr A Mukta of Andro Bazar on the intervening night of July 19 and 20, it clarified.
No kind of demand was served to any of the three families nor was there any confusion or dispute between the party and the three families.
Joining other rebel outfits, the MDF also called upon all the people to stand united against Independence Day celebration of India.
Questioning if there is any valid reason for the people of Manipur to join the Independence Day celebrations, the outfit asserted that participating in such events is tantamount to selling away one's identity.
The alleged discriminatory treatment meted out to the Manipuri people by the Government of India has resulted in a severe turmoil in Manipur while animosity among the indigenous people has been intensifying.
Declaring a ban on Independence Day celebrations in Manipur, the outfit called upon the people not to venture out from 3 am to 6 pm of August 15.However, media, medical and religious ceremonies would be exempted, added the release.
