Imphal, January 09: Citing irregularities in the poll process, AMSU Thoubal District Committee has indefinitely banned conduct of students' union election of Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School.

According to an AMSU release, only one nomination (Okram Ranjit) filed for the secretaryship of Games and Sports on the specified nomination day (January 5) but on scrutiny day today name of another nominee (Akoijam Reshmi Chanu) for the said post cropped up.

While pointing out that Reshmi is the daughter of a school teacher, the AMSU release also accused the election RO Tensubam Kula who is also the school's vice principal and other school authorities of manipulating prescribed election norms to entertain candidature of Reshmi.

To settle the issue, the AMSU unit informs all concerned to report at the AMSU headquarters at 11 am of January 10.
