Imphal, November 05 2010: Drawing the attention of the Government to the controversy over declaration of DPC results of the Primary Teachers/HMT/HGT, 2006, Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Sadar Hills has urged the Government to settle the issue at the earliest possible.

In a statement, the student body pointed out that application for the post of 1400 Primary Teachers was ordered by the Government in 2006 keeping in view the shortage of teachers at the primary level.

On the basis of the order, a DPC was conducted under the supervision of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur.

However, the State Government has not done anything to solve the problems being faced by the student community even after the DPC has been conducted successfully to fill up the vacant posts.

The student body asserted that the position of education in the State has gone from bad to worst in recent times, specially under the present Govt.Despite the Constitutional directives under Article 45 of the Directive Principals of State Policy to provide for free and compulsory education to all children until they complete 14 years of age, the State Govt has not taken up any concrete measure to promote education, the student body charged.

The series of sit-in-dharnas, State wide general strikes and bandhs called by different teaching communities in the State including the current controversy over the suppression and delay in declaration of the DPC results for Primary teachers/HMT/HGT, 2006 is proof of how the state of education is under the present Government, it added.

Taking serious note of the indifference shown to education by the present SPF Govt, the student body has also appealed to all the people for support and co-operation towards early resolution of the problem arising out of suppression of DPC results of the Primary Teachers/HMT/HGT, 2006 .

Furthermore, the student body announced its decision to support the rally being organised by All Manipur Students' Guardians' Organisation on November 10 to press the demand for making education a peaceful and free zone and early resolution of the controversy over recruitment of primary teachers/HMT/HGT.

Demanding the Govt to make public the findings of the committee which conducted an inquiry into the issue at the level of the Chief Secretary and the Legal Departments, the student body has also warned of taking recourse to various forms of agitation if the Government fails to meet the demand.
