Imphal, February 19: UNLF has paid revolutionary salutes to its cadre, Pvt L Nganba alias Khagemba of Andro Maringthel, who was killed in a gun fight with the Assam Rifles at a spot in between Sajik and Aigyang on February 16.In a statement, the outfit said that its cadres had surrounded the security post at Aigyang and the incident occurred when the MPA cadres engaged the AR men who were sent in as reinforcement from Sajik side.

Many security personnel including its CO were injured, said UNLF and added that the statement of the AR PRO that only four were hurt was a lie.

The grievously wounded Nganba was carried by the other cadres for a long distance but as his situation worsened he passed away and the body was left at Molnom village.

His weapon was secured by his comrades.

The body was retrieved by the security personnel later.

The outfit also shared the grief and pain of the bereaved family members.
