Imphal, March 03:
Appealing to take the ban imposed on distribution of kerosene oil in the positive light, the Manipur Students' Federation clarified that it is not intent to overburden people already enduring scarcity of kerosene oil.
A statement issued by the Federation remarked that the step is taken up in its quest for a permanent solution to this problem of artificial kerosene scarcity in the State.
It alleged that unavailability of due quantity of K oil by rightful people is impelled by the hoarding of kerosene oil with diesel and petrol by some persons and parties in connivance with officials concerned. The statement given by the FCS Minister in the State Assembly regarding no complaints of kerosene shortage, even as people are facing acute shortage of the commodity which was amply highlighted by media, is a clear manifestation of the SPF Government's insensivity and irresponsibility, asserted MSF.It urged the State Government to initiate concrete steps to redress this grievance of people concerning shortage of kerosene oil.
Failure to heed the appeal would compel MSF to impose total ban on the import of kerosene oil from other states, it cautioned. It further warned shopkeepers not to sell the commodity at exorbitant price.
Defiance of the warning would entail stern actions against defaulting shopkeepers, noted the statement.
