Imphal, Jul 28:
Planning and Development Authority (PDA) has reportedly repaid the loan amount taken from HUDCO for giving housing loan to the Government employees without paying the over Rs 1.80 crores deducted as stamp duties for the mortgaged land to the Revenue Department.
The matter came to light during a joint meeting of the officials of the Revenue Department and the PDA with the Chief Minister in the chair yesterday.
During the meeting it was brought up that stamp duty was exempted for the mortgaged land at the time of granting housing loan given to the Government employees while Manipur was a Union territory.
It is said that PDA has granted housing loan amounting to Rs 45.89 crores to 7895 employees so far.
