Lamenting over lack of medical facilities at Taosang village under Nungba sub-division of Tamenglong district, Taosang Village Authority has urged the authority concerned for taking up remedial measures against the spread of malarial epidemic which has become a regular feature, before the onset of rainy season.
In a statement, Village Authority vice-chairman K Kamangai informed that Taosang village comprises of three hamlet namely Taosang Kaiguangjang, Taosang Khullen (Chingkao) and Taosang Khunou village with a total population of about 690 people.
However, no medical team had ever visited the said villages apart from the fact that there is no medical facility available.
Most of the people in these village suffered from the menace of Anopheles mosquitos which spread Malarial epidemic and its outbreak is a regular feature.
Lives of many people have been claimed by the epidemic in the past and many are also still suffering from the disease.
Five persons died from malaria in 1998, three persons in 1999, two persons in 2003 and so far four persons this year, the village vice chairman claimed, while drawing the attention of the authority concerned for taking up necessary measures to contain the spread of the epidemic and save the lives of the villagers before the onset of the rainy season.
