Friendship Centre, Manipur has complained to National Association of Street Vendor of India regarding the street vendors' issue of the State.
Condemning the State Government for the alleged ill-treatment meted out to the street vendors, the association alleged that it is an incompetency on Government's part as it is not able solve the problem of just around 5000 street vendors of the State.
According to a press release of the association, there are 250000 street vendors in Mumbai, 200000 in Delhi and 150000 in Kolkata.
Demanding to solve the problem at the earliest, the association also said that the rights for street vendors are enshrined in the Article 19 (1) g and Article 39 (a) and (b) of the Indian Constitution.
There is also a policy called National Policy on Street Vendor.
