Protesting against the undue interference given by some armed persons who identified themselves as members of the proscribed KNA outfit in the construction work of the road from Napet Palli to Thayong, a large of people belonging to various communities staged a Wakat Meepham at Nongdam Community Hall today.
The protestors also made a fervent appeal to the outfit to come out with a clarification in this regard within May 24 so that the construction of the road work could be resumed.
It is reportedly that after the completion of black topping along 4 kms stretch of the 10 km long road, some armed persons who identified themselves as KNA members have allegedly threatened to continue with the road construction work.
Since then the work along the remaining road has come to a grinding halt.
The Wakat Meepham held under the aegis of Napet Palli to Andro Road Joint Action Committee also took three different resolutions.
This include finding out the reason behind the imposition of the ban on the road work, to appeal to all concerned not to hamper in any developmental works being taken up for the welfare of the people and to face such disruptive forces collectively.
Apart from a large number of people belonging to Tangkhul, Kom and Meetei communities living in 13 villages situated along the stretch from Napet Palli to Andro Road, children from three schools of the area also participated in the protest demonstration.
