Lamka, June 20 2009:
Claiming that the SPF Government has made a flip-flop stand on the issue of handing over construction of Churachandpur-Singngat-Sinzawl-Tuivai stretch of roads to BRO despite several MoUs had been signed with various student bodies.
CDSU today said that it was outraged by the State Government for constantly sidelining public interest and that it would not accept any piecemeal solution in this regard.
On September 2, 2006, the State Cabinet also decided to hand over construction of the said road to BRO and accordingly, Ministry of Defence under Government of India has proposed to finance the construction under GS funding, said a statement issued by the union.
However, contravening the said Cabinet decision, the Works Department has cleverly twisted the matter by handing over only some sector of the roads to BRO in its notification of June 6, 2009, it added.
In this regard, the union enquired as and when the Cabinet decision was overruled or what compelled the State Government to backtrack from its own decision and sacrifice the long cherish demands of the public.
The union on its memorandum to the Chief Minister demanded his intervention on the matter to immediately execute the CL-9 enhanced specification of the said roads without any modification.
Any piece-meal solution in this regard will not be acceptable, it claimed.
