In all 52 children, who had gone to Nagercoil, Kannyakumari District of Tamil Nadu, Chennai for good quality and proper education, have reached home here this evening around 5 pm at Tamenglong district head quarter.
Most of the children, between 6 and 13 years of age, are of Zeme tribe living in Tousem Sub-Division of Tamenglong District.
A reception programme for the 52 Zeliangrong students, who had gone to Nagercoil, Kannyakumari District of Tamil Nadu, was held at the Zeme Naga Baptist Church Complex here organised by Zeme Naga Council, Manipur and Zeme Pui Baudi, Manipur.
D Gangmei, MCS, SDO Tousem, C Arthur W, IAS, SDO Tamenglong, office bearers of ZSU, ZYF, ZWU and other social leaders attended the programme.
Many individuals and social workers including the social organizations of Tamenglong district including Zeliangrong Students' Union, Zeliangrong Youth Front, Hmar Young Association, Tamenglong, condemned the agent who had transported the children to Chennai on promising proper education.
They also condemned the Home authority who had been harassing the little boys in Nagercoil, Kannyakumari and Chennai in Tamil Nadu.
They said that they were shocked to hear the illtreatment of the 52 children and harassment given to them.
They expressed their desire for not repeating such unfortunate incidents again in future.
adding that if any the front organization will take up stern action to the agent who had transport the children.
In the meantime, while talking to this reporter Hangri of Aben village one of the parent among the 52 children who returning back today said that one Paul Newmei of the same village took the child on promising of proper and good quality to their son in 2006. Keheituing Newmei 13 years son of Changlang of Inem village among the 52 children who had gone to Nagercoil Kannyakumari District of Tamil Nadu, Chennai for proper education said that there was no problem in school they study but some problem occurs in the hostel.
According to Keheituing Newmei in hostel the problem occurs when the warden not treated well.
Instead of sending to school the warden sent for works where new building construction was going on.
"We were made to dig the mud, carrying stones and cleaning toilets with bare hands, if we disobey we were beaten up and giving punishment not giving sufficient foods and place to sleep", said Keheituing with tears rolling down in his check.
He also identified the person as Pastor Shaji owner of the hostel.
However, to the query the little boy said that the agent who had brought to Chennai did not know about the harassing the children.
In the reception programme held here at ZNBC complex at Tamenglong, Kinderson Pamei, Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee who had help to get out of the Chennai said that the reasons for letting of children to go in such places may be low economy, ethnic and clash, non stability of government and wrong politics.
These small reasons pile up into big problem and become human trafficking and become new things for all of us, he said.
To solve such problems the remote Sub- Division of Tousem needs good infrastructures, good schools and other necessary for younger generation.
If all this children were sent to their parents at Tousem the children had nothing to do for the future, they will be turn to monkey or fish or any type of animals, the chairperson of CWC asserted.
Its secretary Ashang also questioning the public just to sent the children to their parents or give proper redress to all 52 children.
He also appealed the SDO Tousem and SDO Tamenglong who present in the reception programe to help out to give proper education to the children.
SDO Tousem and SDO Tamenglong also expressed gratitude to the human rights activities and CWC for helping the children to reach home saved and sound.
They also urged the parents to be aware and not to repeat such things in future.
Indigenous Women and Children Foundation, IWCF Tamenglong also attend the function and present some items to show the solidarity of the young children.
Ashongdin Pamei IWCF said that the society was just form and helped the young girls from Malaysia to return to Tamenglong.
Appeal all parent to be aware of sending their sons or daughter to unknown places and not to repeat such things in future too.
Aniliu Gangmei, President of Zeliangrong Women Union Tamenglong District also spoke in the occasion.
She said as mother it was great shocks to hear the news of human trafficking.
Everyone should be condemnable the agent and the hostel owner.
She also urged not to repeat such things in the futures.
