Imphal, March 19, 2010: Atleast five persons have fallen prey to bullets of both security forces and unidentified persons in the past 48 hours within and beyond the State.Among the victims, three Manipuris reportedly abducted from Dimapur town were found shot dead at an Assam area close to Nagaland�s largest town.

Dimapur police source said unidentified armed persons had abducted the trio on March 13 midnight from 4th (char) Mile area.

It is informed that searches were on to trace the abducted persons based on complaint by an elder brother of RK Roshan, at Dimapur police station on March 17, when Assam police conveyed information about presence of three bullet riddled bodies.

Upon physical verification of the victims it came to light they were the same persons whose abduction had been reported to Dimapur police station, the source explained.

The bodies were recovered from Lakhijan area under Bokajan police station of Karbi Anglong district and subsequently identified this morning.

The victims are RK Roshan alias Ronald (37) s/o (L) Biren of Tera Sayang Pukhri Achouba Mapal, Thounaojam Prem alias Romen (26) from Langol Laimanai and Th Naobi (37) s/6 (L) Gulamjat of Thangmei band Khomdram Selungba Leikai.

Information has also been conveyed that RK Roshan used to stay at Dimapur's Burma Camp and that Prem along with family members arrived at Roshan's place on March 13.Prem runs a hostel at Chandmari, Guwahati.

Motive of the triple killing could not be established at the time of filing this report.

In unrelated incidents late last night, two persons have been shot dead while another was shot and wounded.As per police reports, troops of 28 Assam Rifles gunned down a UG suspect at an isolated spot in Kongba Irong area, which is under Irilbung police station of Imphal East district.

A shoot-out reportedly broke out between unidentified persons and the AR troops at around 11.30 pm yesterday during which the UG suspect was slain.

One .32 pistol, a magazine with three lives rounds and a Chinese hand-grenade were recovered from the possession of the de ceased.

PRO IGAR (S) in a statement issued today said 28 AR troops launched operation in general area Takhok Mapan at around 10.10 pm during which a shoot-out ensued when 3-4 persons moving suspiciously open ed fire on being challenged.

One of them got killed from whom the fire-arm, explosive item etc was recovered, it said.

Earlier, at around 9 pm unidentified persons gunned down a former UG cadre about half a kilometer from his Kakmayai Mayai Leikai residence under Yairipok police station in Thoubal district.

The victim has been identified as Ningombam Premjit(30) s/o Ito.

Local sources said Premjit, a former member of the proscribed PLA, was slain by unidentified persons at tired in combat uniform.

On the otherhand, uni dentified person opened-fire and wounded one Ashei Tangkhul (27) of Tuinem village (Ukhrul) while talking on the mobile phone at near the public pond in Tangkhul Avenue (Imphal) at around 7.30 pm.

Ashei, a timber trader, suffered a bullet wound on the neck and is currently undergoing treatment at hospital.
