Family cries foul over death of woman during operation

Imphal, Jul 18: A woman patient who underwent operation to remove gall (stone) from her bladder at JN Hospital reportedly died in a suspicous manner today.

According to information received by the press, the ill-fated patient is identified as Toijam Madhubala (50) of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai.

Talking to mediapersons, one of the sons of the deceased woman informed that Madhubala was admitted to the hospital at around 9 am yesterday and she was taken inside the operation theatre at around 1.45 pm today.

But the doctors who performed the operation brought out her body at around 5 pm stating that she died from heart attack.

On hearing about the death of the woman, the infuriated patient party demanded to know the doctors who performed the operation so as to confirm what went during the operation , thus prompting the Medical Superintendent of the hospital to intervene.

Police were also called in to avoid any untoward incident.
