Preparations to set up an information technology park in the State has been completed, said Science and Technology Director UC Laishram.
The Director was speaking at a function held at Kangla hall today on the occasion of 39th World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.
He said that Manipur should be developed at par with other States of India, if the country has to become a developed nation as whole in the coming years.
To make the country a developed one, the optimum utility of information, communication and technology should be exploited, he asserted.
The function held on the theme "Connecting the Young: Opportunities of ICT", it was pointed out that there are two ways to reap the benefits of ICT.
One is development of IT industry and the other to develop citizen centric service or e-governance.
To develop IT industry already accepted as having the largest avenue for providing employment to youths, all preparations have been made to set up an IT park in the State within this year, said UC Laishram.
He further informed that facility for transmission of data and information from district Hqs and sub-divisional Hqs to the State Data Centre under Citizens Centric Service or e-governance is also on the pipeline.
Today's function held under the aegis of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications India (IETI) was attended by MPSC Chairman Prof Amarjit Lukram, MU Pro VC H Nandakumar, Commissioner of Manipur Science and Technology S Budhachandra and IETI Chairman H Kulachandra as chief guest, guests of honour and president respectively.
