Shillong, December 10:
The Garo Students Union (GSU) has called a one day non cooperation movement on December 11 and a three day-night road blockade on the 12th, 13th.14th of December.
The student resorted to the agitational programme in the three districts of Garo Hills after the Govt failed to comply with the demand to hold the winter session of the State Assembly in Tura.
The GSU lay the 7th of this month as the deadline and the non compliance was followed by last night Executive committee meeting in Tura, which decided to resume the agitation.
The General Secretary of the GSU, M.Sangma said, 'the union was compelled to take the decision since the Govt and the political parties did not pay heed to our request for a winter session".
Reiterating the 'holding of the winter session is very much feasible in Tura , the GSU leadership were of the view that an assembly session in the main headquarters of Garo Hills will propel the pace of development, which has been tardy and lacking in the three Garo Hills district.
