NPF extends appreciation to Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio

Kohima, February 10 2026: The Naga People's Front (NPF) extends its appreciation to its President, Hon'ble Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio, and the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) delegation for their productive engagement with the Government of India on key issues affecting Nagaland.

The NPF welcomes Dr Rio's call for reviving Indo-Naga talks at the highest political level and the Union Home Minister's indication of renewed political-level engagement.

We also commend his efforts in highlighting Nagaland's financial concerns, including restoring the earlier financial arrangement under the 16-Point Agreement, and seeking relaxation of the Protected Area Permit (PAP) regime and a review of the revised Free Movement Regime (FMR) guidelines.

The NPF believes such initiatives demonstrate responsible leadership, crucial for safeguarding Naga rights and identity.

We hope the Government of India's assurances lead to tangible actions, addressing the state's financial challenges and promoting the welfare of the Naga people.

The NPF also celebrates 5th Feb 2026 as a red-letter day, with the NPF-led PDA Govt successfully inking the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) agreement, a major milestone in the state's history.
